The second module in first year, titled Buying & Merchandising, gave me the opportunity to focus on creating my own range of skirts for River Island. In order to start to process of creating my range, a trend was foreseen and predicted through thorough research using several different mixed medias such as WGSN, L:SN, newspapers etc. The decided trend for 2016 was chosen utilising the popularity of the 2016 Summer Olympics, held in Rio De Janeiro.

The range comprised of six key shapes which came in different prints, colour variations and sizes. In order to make sure the garments were what was required and phased into store correctly, six individual critical paths were also made. These paths detailed showed lead times, lab dip approvals, when the item was to phased into store and predicted bestsellers.

My booklet consisted of my range, but how I got to that point, ways to wear each skirt with a collation of visuals of catwalks and celebrity inspiration and also how it would be displayed in a River Island store.

After our ranges were complete, the final task was pitch our ideas to our lecturers, and in front of our peers.

This module helped to gain the basic skills in Adobe Illustrator and this have proved useful and have contributed greatly towards other outcomes.
